英語初心者さんと一緒に数えたり、

At AKG we love to encourage children to have ideas of their own. The imagination of a child is so powerful that anything can become something else!
Here we have a treehouse constructed with wooden drying racks. The children decided together to make the treehouse and talked about how to make the sides stay up, how to make a door that opens, and how to make it bigger to let more children play. The staff at AKG encourage and support this process in Japanese and English. I love the opportunities play like this presents for English. I can count the panels using English numbers, or pretend not to see the children when they hide behind the walls. "Where are you?" I ask. "Are you in the treehouse? Are you behind the wall? Are you under the roof?" Using English alongside children as they play helps them to build a positive relationship with language, and have fun speaking English!
So, whether the children build a treehouse, fight a fire with a bamboo hose, or climb a tree and be monkeys, we love to encourage their creative ideas.
